BEXARBYTE

San Antonio News Aggregation

About BexarByte

Local news aggregation for San Antonio, built with transparency in mind.

Our Mission

BexarByte aggregates news from multiple San Antonio and South Texas sources to give residents a comprehensive view of local events, politics, business, and community news. We believe informed citizens make stronger communities.

Unlike national news aggregators, we focus exclusively on stories that matter to San Antonio and the surrounding area — from Bexar County government to local school districts, from the Spurs to neighborhood developments.

What We Offer

Multi-Source Aggregation

Stories from KSAT, KENS 5, Texas Public Radio, San Antonio Report, San Antonio Current, and more — all in one place.

Story Clustering

See how different outlets cover the same story. Our clustering algorithm groups related articles so you can compare perspectives.

Bias Indicators

Every story includes a bias indicator based on source ratings and content analysis. Transparency helps you read critically.

Organization Tracking

Track news mentions of key San Antonio organizations — from SAPD to SAISD, from the Spurs to H-E-B.

How It Works

1

RSS Feed Aggregation

Every 30 minutes, we fetch the latest stories from our source outlets via their RSS feeds.

2

Local Filtering

Stories are filtered to ensure they're relevant to San Antonio and the surrounding area.

3

Clustering & Analysis

Related stories are grouped together, and each story receives a bias indicator.

4

Presentation

Stories are displayed with source attribution, timestamps, and links to original articles.

Bias Indicators

Our bias indicators combine two factors:

  • Source ratings: Based on established media bias ratings for each outlet
  • Content analysis: Keyword detection for emotionally charged or politically loaded language

Note: Bias indicators are meant as a starting point for critical reading, not a definitive judgment. We encourage readers to evaluate sources and content for themselves.
